Peter Sengl was born in March 1945 south of Graz, in the Unterbergla district at Deutschlandsberg. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Prof. Sergius Pauser. He met Susanne Lacomb, his then to be wife, in the legendary Vienna Café Hawelka. She often worked as a model for Sengl and is still the most important companion of his artistic career. His oeuvre is one of the most idiosyncratic in Austrian contemporary art.
From the beginning it was his concern to create peculiarly disturbing, thought-provoking and distinctive images. As a painter and draftsman, he quickly developed his own style, with the figurative taking precedence. Peter Sengl is represented in numerous exhibitions, such as in the Künstlerhaus Galerie Wien, Kulturhaus Graz, Neue Galerie Linz, Kulturhaus Graz, Ulmer Museum, Rathausgalerie Balingen, Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien etc. Peter Sengl lives and works in Vienna.
