Oswald Grill was born on August 30, 1878 in Vienna. He studied under Karl Karger at the School of Applied Arts Vienna and under Carl von Marr and Alexander von Wagner at the Munich Art Academy. After his return he became a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus in 1908. His work mainly includes landscape paintings and portraits that were exhibited at the Vienna Künstlerhaus and the Munich Glass Palace. He has received numerous honors, including the Gold Medal of the Republic of Austria, the Little Golden State Medal, and the Golden Laurel of the Vienna Künstlerhaus. Oswald Grill died on 13 January 1964 in Vienna.
