Anton Filkuka was born on 30 April 1888 in Vienna. After attending the Academy of Fine Arts under Sigmund L' Allemand and Christian Griepenkerl as well as the master classes of Heinrich von Angeli and Kazimierz Pochwalski he worked as landscape, portrait and genre painter. In 1950 Filkuka portrayed the princely family in Vaduz. Already after graduating Anton Filkuka could celebrate great success and he was able to position himself in Viennese society. After the First World War he lived and worked mostly in Altaussee and housed in a beautiful villa, just located at the village entrance. Paintings of Prof. Anton Filkuka are today among other things in many private and public collections, the Wien Museum, the Belvedere in Vienna, and in public collections in Dusseldorf, Geneva, Stockholm, Cairo, and New York . Anton Filkuka died on the 4th of February 1957 in Vienna.
